India Nigeria relations

Modi led government have been taking steps to maintain stable and economic relations with the nations in the African Continent. Recently Indian government announced that it would help Nigeria’s economic recovery and growth plan to build competitive economy.

Indian commissioner said that India offered about $174.96million to boost power supply in Nigeria. One of the factors influenced this decision was the trade balance between Nigeria and India. India exports to Nigeria stands at $1.74billion as against India’s imports of $7.41bn from Nigeria.

Indian government plans to construct solar plants in six geo-political zones of Nigeria. Also Indian government stated that it support the economic plan of Nigeria predominant focus on promoting agriculture and other allied sectors. Trade basket between India and Nigeria  are significantly improved and diversified due to large number of Indian owned companies have set up their offices in Nigeria. These companies are one of the largest employers among Nigerian population.

Also in order to strengthen the relationship between Nigeria and India event was conducted under Indian Universities Alumni Association (IUAA).They conducted programs to share ideas which would deepen the relationship between two countries. Some of topics discussed in the conference was "Significant part of Nigeria sustainable development and growth and plan depends on the contribution of Indian small and medium scale enterprises in Nigeria".
